For many Triton seniors, the early admissions deadline was November 1st. Senior Gwen Norton has already received her letter of acceptance to the University of Alabama and has decided to attend. She shared with the Triton Voice her application experience.

Q: When did you apply to the University of Alabama?

A: I applied to Alabama at the beginning of July.

Q: Did you ever go visit the school?

A: Yes, I went on a college tour back in February.

Q: Were you nervous to apply?

A: Yeah, I was more nervous that I wouldn’t be accepted.

Q: How did you apply to the school?

A: I applied through their website since they don’t go through Common App.

Q: What were some other colleges you applied to?

A: I applied to URI, UNH, UVM, and UMass Amherst. But, the only way I would go to any of those schools is if I change my mind and want to be closer to home.

Q: How did you know the University of Alabama was the place for you?

A: Well I have always known I wanted to be down South for college and after touring, I fell in love with the school.  Also, I love the spirit they have there and their football team.

Q: When were you accepted to the University of Alabama?

A: I was accepted on September 13th.

Q: Do you know anyone who goes to the University of Alabama?

A: I already know a few people who go there that love it. Erika Siemasko is possibly going to go too, so it will be nice to have someone from Triton there too.

Q: Are you going to be involved in any sports or activities while you are at the school?

A: No, I’m not going to be playing any sports, but I want to be in a sorority.

Norton is excited to attend the University of Alabama next fall and is the one of the first of many seniors to receive their letter of acceptance.
