Shannon Lanphear, Staff Writer
My name is Shannon Lanphear, I am a senior here at Triton High school. This is my third year writing for the school newspaper. I enjoy writing about current events that are interesting to me so that I am learning more about things I want to know about, as well as informing the community.
Outside of school, I enjoy hanging out with my friends, working at an ice cream shop called White Farms, shopping, listening to music, occasionally playing the ukulele, hanging out with my dogs, and writing.
I plan to attend a close-by university and major in English. I enjoy writing for the paper because of the independence and creativity it comes with. Being able to choose my own topics and write freely is something that you do not get to do in every English class. You are helping your community get important information and learning a lot about the world we live in along the way.
Writing is extremely important to me. It is a way for me to express myself and make sense my thoughts and feelings. Writing for the paper is also important because people should be aware of the things going on in the world and community and we have the privilege to be the ones to inform that. We also get to have a voice. Putting our opinions out about certain rules and punishments that the school gives or doesn’t give, and why we think it may be fair or unfair.
