A major conflict that is circling the halls of Triton High School. This year there is a new schedule that comes into effect. There have been a few changes made to the Triton communities’ everyday rotation.
This year there was a change on the lunches as well as the time frame for viking block. This big question is: Does Triton staff and students enjoy the change or find it difficult and a challenge in their life at school.
In the Triton community many people have different opinions on what the new schedule brings. The schedule won’t be staying for the whole year and is supposed to change in the 2nd semester of this year.
Hearing from staff and students there are many different views on the subject and why it happened. The lunch team here at trion doesn’t have a huge bother with the new schedule.
“Yes, now that we have got used to the new schedule it has become easier. We have more time at the end of the day to clean up and prepare for the next day.” Said Meghan Calix head of school lunches.
Roaming the halls you hear students talking and holding a strong judgment towards this new idea of lunches and viking blocks before class and want to see a change in the future, they find it as an inconvenience and lengthen within their day. Hearing from some they said.
“I like having a viking block after 3rd period because having a break after class is nice. Having the new lunch schedule makes the day way longer.” Brooke Baumann said,
along with another student.
“I hate it. It makes the day go by much longer and it’s an inconvenience when going to lunch between the middle of a period, because if I’m doing my work I don’t stop in the middle of it.”Said London Stanley.
Mr. Gette, a history teacher at Triton, shares his opinions on the new schedule that has been established.
“I don’t think it’s ideal and not the best for student ability to focus, but also I understand a necessary evil for the school size and having to fit lunches in.”
Students seem to be more upset and affected by this and what the new schedule brings to them everyday. Mr. Kelly, Principle of Triton explained the reason behind this adjustment that started in the 2025 school year.
“The change was exclusively about making sure we could have a fully aligned schedule with the middle school” Said Mr. Kelly
Overall the Triton community team seems that they are not a huge fan of the new schedule. Students find it as a bad change and makes the days feel longer. They hope that the 2nd semester has new changes happening and that is works for everyone.
