The Bagel Showdown

Matt Toppi

Lots of people in the Newburyport area have a hard time deciding on where to go for bagels. The new hype is Abraham’s bagels in Newburyport. Abes was shut down for about year due to a fire in the kitchen. Upon returning in late August it was a huge hit with lines out the door everyday. This popularity continues as you drive by on weekends still seeing a line.
The other popular bagel place is Andyman’s. Andyman’s is located in Amesbury and was the popular choice while Abe’s was down. Andyman’s has lots of cream cheese flavors along with coffee and breakfast sandwiches.
When surveying a class at Triton, the vote of the favored bagel place was Abraham’s with 10 votes compared to Andyman’s 4 votes.
Andyman’s has more cream cheese and bagel flavors giving a larger variety of choices. Abe’s is in a more convenient location being in the core of downtown newburyport. The choice is a hard one to make. However, it is important to not shame one of them without giving it a try.
