The Start of the Winter Sports Season

The Triton Ice Hockey team took on the Lynnfield Pioneers in their first game this past weekend. The Vikings came out strong resulting in a 4-1 victory. Team captains Luke Sullivan, Connor Rumph, and Josh Hersey lead the boys to their first win. This Saturday the boys go head to head with their biggest rivalry Newburyport, this will take place at 6:30 at the Graf and will sure be a chippy game.

Over the weekend the Wrestling team also with a very strong start to their season took the win over schools such as North Middlesex (56-21), Bedford (54-15), Lynn Tech (24-15) and Wellesley (42-33) all with strong wins. Some standouts such as Riley Tarmey, Brian Quam, Sam Imlach, Alex Sabino as well as Nolan Merril were all very impressive on the mat.

The boys basketball team has a big away game tonight against Amesbury at 6:30. Star Players Liam Friis, Jason Holscher and Harrison Huynh will try to lead this team to a win. Captains Jason Holscher, Liam Friis, Charlie Mollineaux are excited for the upcoming season.

Girls basketball coming off an 11-11 record from their past season enter the 2025 season with captains Ashley Jones and Margaret Welch. Star player Lily D’Andrea hopes to lead the team to endless victories this season.

Girls and Boys Track off to a good start as well recently securing a close win against Pentucket last saturday. The captains Bradyn Lopes, Jack Lyman, Will Hight, and Jonah Remignati all contributed to the grueling win.

My name is Adam White, I’m a senior at Triton High School. The three main things I enjoy outside of school are music, cars, and working. What I like about journalism is researching and getting to know a topic deeper. I have to do this to write a complete article and it’s fun to find out things you wouldn't have normally stumbled across. I like to write articles reviewing things that I like, such as movies and music. I don't really have a goal in mind, but I'm really enjoying the process of creating and publishing articles. I think being a journalist is important because it forces you to remove your bias and see a story for it only being fact rather than your opinion. This is important for communities as they also need to see a story for its facts before they can form their own opinions. What I plan to do in life for work is some form of mechanical engineering working on cars as they have been a passion of mine since I was little. Outside of work, I would like to also have a career in music.

Hello I’m Beckham Zizza and I’m a senior at Triton High School. I like to go out with friends and have fun. I play baseball throughout the whole year, and I also work at a restaurant called “Off The Vine." I have one brother who is a sophomore at Masconomet High School. I like the freedom part of journalism. I like being able to come up with my own ideas of things to write about. My favorite things to write about are sports-related and I hope to get a lot of coverage for them in the school newspaper. I think being a journalist is important because I think that the more people we have updating the students here, the better. Later in life, I want to have a career in something sports-related and to have flexible hours enough to be able to coach.

Hi! My name is Sophie Chapman. I am currently a senior at Triton High School. Over my 4 years here at Triton, I've spent my time doing many different things. In the fall you can find me playing field hockey with some of my best friends. I have played field hockey for 7 years now and have been on varsity since freshman year. I am the captain of both the field hockey team as well as the tennis team, which I play on in the spring! Outside of school other than field hockey and tennis, I have been a Class President for all 4 years, which I enjoy doing a lot, I have been part of student council, community service, and a few other Triton clubs. Outside of Triton, I enjoy spending time with my friends, my family, and my dog. I currently am a dental assistant at a pediatric dentist's office where I work helping kids with dental needs during the summer. I love journalism because you can interact with people, and always talk about the newest trends, drama, and other big topics. I enjoy hearing people’s different points of view on topics and I especially enjoy picking what we write about ourselves. My general goal for our school newspaper is to flood the paper with new interesting topics that everyone is interested in! I think social skills are extremely important for people and I believe that journalism contributes to that skill. Having to interview people is a very important skill that we all will use in life. In my future, I want to become a Dental Hygienist. I have always been interested in teeth and love my current job working with kids and can’t wait to see where the future brings me!

Lucas Sullivan, Staff Writer & Sports Editor

Hey guys, my name is Luke Sullivan. I am a senior at Triton High School, and I love pancakes. I am the captain of the hockey team and have been playing all my life. I am class president for the class of 2025, and I am involved in many different clubs: community service, Best Buddies, student council, captains council, and more. I have a job as a delivery driver at Famous Pizza in Newburyport. I have two older siblings, one brother and one sister who are both in college. I enjoy going on hikes, drives, and going to the beach with my friends. I do not necessarily plan on getting into journalism in the future, however I still really like it. In journalism, I get the freedom of choosing what I would like to write about. My goal for the school paper is to bring awareness to students about topics that they actually want to read about. I believe being a journalist for the school newspaper is important because it requires you to actually put yourself out there. In this class, you are required to go get at least three interviews for each news story, which is very helpful for social skills. This paper is also a great way to get news out to the community about specific upcoming or past events. It gives people a good way to get connected to the school. As I get older I am looking forward to going to college for finance, following in the footsteps of both my mom and dad. I hope to one day become a financial manager for a sports organization.
