A thriller that took over the internet over the past months. Five Nights at Freddie’s is a movie that is based on video games that emphasize horror, by using animatronics that are possessed by children’s spirits. 

The movie takes place in the early 2000s with the main character Josh Hutcherson playing Mike Schmidt, the security guard who has to work the night shifts. As he goes through his night he starts to notice more and more suspicious things happening around the restaurant. The animatronics are Bonnie, chicka, Freddy, foxy, and cupcake.  As he operates through the nights, questionable things start to happen with the animatronics that he can’t explain. Through the nights he starts putting pieces together on what’s happening here. Reveals that they are haunted by the spirit of 4 different children. the animatronics start to build bonds with the characters and begin to have fun with Josh and his sister but they soon find it was all in bad intentions 

Knowing the lore behind the movie is very important before you watch it. Behind every animatronic, there is a dark past that involves. a man who kidnapped kids and put them into animatronics. throughout the years the possessed animatronics performed during the day for children and came alive at night. in the movie, they are relatively harmless toward Mike and just freak him out. It was when he brought his daughter to a shift that he finally realized how twisted Freddy Fazbear’s pizzeria was. When he walked out to check on his sister he was greeted by all of the animatronics surrounding his sister and playing games with her. At the first moment, the animatronics seemed hostile toward Mike because they looked at him as a threat. After all, they don’t like adults. 

As the movie goes on Mike and his sister start to build what they think is a good relationship with the animatronics but he soon figures out their real plan. The main objective was to take advantage of Mike and his sister, to take his sister’s soul and put it into an animatronic.  

Five Nights at Freddie’s is a very good watch, throughout the movie it continues to draw you in with the eerie atmosphere of the animatronics. Triton voice interviewed senior Taryn Lebrek on Five Nights at Freddy “I wasn’t a big fan of this movie because it’s a little bit too scary for me.” This is the type of movie that can give you a good scare to the core with its deep and meaningful backstory.

Five Nights at Freddie’s is a roller coaster ride of a movie and it shows the depths of the lour. The director Emma Tammi did a fantastic job depicting all of the different animatronics and their backstories. overall this movie brought me the same old feeling from when I used to play the FNAF games on my phone all those years ago. I feel that it’s important for people to be able to experience the same feeling that I felt while watching Five Nights at Freddy’s.
