An updated description of the coronavirus in Massachusetts is as follows.
As of Thursday, March 12th, 2020, several schools in MA, and one in Boston are closed today due to the concerns about the outbreak of the coronavirus. The Department of Public Health announced yesterday on Wednesday, March 11th that there are three new cases of coronavirus in Massachusetts, bringing the state total to 95. Six cases in Massachusetts have now been confirmed by the CDC and 89 are considered presumptive positive. 400 people are self quarantining. According to Monica Bharel, Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, “Our goal here is for our residents of the Commonwealth to be prepared and informed and ready. Covid19 is an evolving disease and it’s very important to stay informed because the information changes as this new disease evolves.” Of all of the current cases open, 77 are tied to the Biogen employee conference in Boston at the end of February.
