Does Netflix have a new rival? Or does Netflix always trump all?

Disney+ is now competing with other streaming services and it has a lot of competition. There are tons of streaming services but some of its main competitors would have to be Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime.

Choosing between all of the streaming services involves a lot of factors. Price is a big factor. Disney+ is $69.99 a year, Netflix is $144, Amazon Prime is $119 without the student membership a year and Hulu is $71.88 a year. That makes Disney+ the cheapest, but that doesn’t mean it’s the best. But the price isn’t the biggest factor for everyone. It’s mainly about what movies and shows are on the streaming services.

Disney+ doesn’t have the biggest selection of all of the streaming services but it does have a lot of movies that others don’t have. If your a fan of Disney then this is definitely the streaming service for you. That’s not all, it also has Marvel movies and Star Wars and Pixar. But Disney+ is limited to these. Disney dug into their movie vault and released movies all the way back from the 1950s. It has the original animated movies like Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and even Pinocchio. Disney has also the newest Lady and the Tramp movie. Disney even started to make their own shows, for example, the new Mandalorian show based on Star Wars with the new baby Yoda that everyone is freaking out about. Every other service has movies from all types of production agencies. But there’s a catch.

“Disney first announced that it was pulling its titles from Netflix in August 2017, just a few years after the companies signed a nine-figure deal allowing Netflix to carry new Disney movies. Disney’s live-action and animated titles will leave Netflix by January 1st, 2020, just a couple of months after Disney+ launches,” said Julia Alexander on The Verge.

This is definitely a game-changer, for me at least. I love pretty much everything Disney and movies we watched as kids. I personally have Disney+, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. I believe that it is the better way to go to have more than one streaming service so that I have a much wider selection of movies and shows to watch. I was thinking that I would have Disney+ for about a year and when I got bored of it I would go back to Netflix because it has Disney films. But now that Netflix and Disney as separating, I’ll have to pick Netflix over Disney, because after watching everything I want to watch, Netflix will trump it by having newer different films to watch.

Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime have thousands and thousands of movies. Netflix has a lot of shows on it but not any shows that are still airing on TV. It has older shows that aren’t airing anymore like Friends and shows like Shameless that are still being filmed. Netflix is pretty good when it comes to movies that used to be really popular. For example, it has The Black Panther – although that will soon be on Disney+ on March 4th, 2020. Hulu’s main idea was if you missed a show on TV the night before you could find it on Hulu. That gives Hulu the upper hand when it comes to new releases that people want to see right away and not wait for other streaming services to add it.  Amazon Prime has many movies and shows that come with it but there are not very many shows and movies that have been released recently. If you want to watch movies that are most likely more popular, then you have to pay extra for each movie that’s not included. Older audiences are less likely to watch tv as much as younger ones so Amazon Prime is most likely not the best choice for younger audiences.

Personally, I would pick those over Disney+ because it only has a few hundred movies. Of course, over time Disney+ is expected to bring more and more movies on the stream as time goes on, but that’s an unknown amount of time that it will happen.

Honestly, Disney+ is not enough because of how little the selection is for movies and shows, maybe later in the future when more are added it will be. But for now, maybe adding Netflix to the mix is a good idea. Of course the Disney+ crazy is big right now so personally, all I’m watching is Disney+ and nothing else but in a few weeks that will most likely change.
