Winning just seems like an annual occurrence in Boston . The city has 12 championships since 2000 making the city of Boston the winningest city in America in the past 19 years. With continued success happening this year for the New England Patriots, The Boston Celtics, and The Boston Bruins.
“ Living 45 minutes north of Boston and being able to take the train into the city to see the Red Sox, Bruins or Celtics play is amazing. The fans here are some of the most passionate fans I’ve ever seen,” said Will Gundrum “Also, awesome how much we win, so you get to go to the Duck boat parades after we win a championship.”
Boston has had each of its four major sports teams win a championship. That includes the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics. The New England Patriots have six Super Bowls, The Boston Red Sox have four World Series, the Boston Bruins have one Stanley Cup and The Boston Celtics have won one NBA Final. We have consistently had some of the strongest teams in the major sports with Boston teams appearing in 19 championships since 2000.
The most successful of the four major sports teams is clearly the New England Patriots, with them winning six Super Bowls and nine appearances in the Super bowl. This success has come from the greatest coaching/quarterback duo with quarterback Tom Brady and Head Coach Bill Belichick. Also they haven’t had a losing record in 19 consecutive seasons. With this success it’s no surprise that the Patriots are considered to be one of the greatest dynasties ever.
“I think that the Pats will be good this year,but I don’t want to think they will win every year,” said sophomore Kyle Pearson.
The Red Sox have had similar success with winning four World Series since 2004. The biggest World Series wins came in 2004 with their sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals, where they broke an 86- year drought and 2013 where after 94 years they finally won a World Series at Fenway Park once again against the Cardinals. The Red Sox are the most successful Major League Baseball team since 2000.
The Boston Celtics have only won one NBA championship since the year 2000, winning in 2008 against the LA Lakers in a series that went to Game 6 were the Celtics would win in front of the home crowd at TD Garden, then in 2010 the Celtics would make it back to the NBA Finals, but lose to the LA Lakers in a 7 game series
The Boston Bruins have also only brought one title back to the city of Boston. In 2011 the Bruins won the Stanley Cup in a 7 game series against the Vancouver Canucks in Vancouver, British Columbia. They would go back to the Stanley Cup finals in 2013, but lose to the Chicago Blackhawks in 6 games. “The Bruins deserve to win the Stanley Cup this year, especially with the way the Stanley Cup ended in heartbreak last year,” said Junior Anderw Masher.
With other cities like Los Angeles and New York City compared to Boston, there is a clear dominance for Boston sports with them bring the most titles back to Boston in the 21st Century. Giving Boston the name “Title Town” in the 21st Century. With how the patriots, Bruins, and Celtics are preforming it doesn’t seem like Boston sports are going to be slowing down anytime soon.
