The Hunt Begins

Cars You and Your parents Can Agree On.

Andy Burns, staff writer

It’s the time of year when kids are going to be pushing their parents to get them a car so the don’t have to ride the bus anymore, but kids may have an idea about the cars that they want and they are normally not what parents will allow them to get. There is hope though, as there are some that will suit both the kids and the parents.

If you want something large and 4×4, then a 90’s Jeep Cherokee or Grand Cherokee would be a great car. If you can find one with the 4.0 liter inline 6 you will have an amazingly durable and easy-to-work-on car that gets ok gas mileage. The interiors are great, with power drivers seats and simple controls that will make life so much easier.

If you want a small, sporty feeling car the Volkswagen Golf or a Honda Civic are two great choices. Both come have a small inline 4 that will get great gas mileage and will be reliable along with being good in the winter for those possible snowy drives in the morning. The Golf has a diesel engine option that will make the fuel economy even better while still keeping some sporty feel. The Honda has an option called VTEC. What this does is at at low RPM you will get good gas mileage, however when you rev the engine to around 4,500 to 5,000 RPM it gets a sudden boost of power but loses fuel economy.
