Triton Tech

DIY-CPU

By Ryan Farrell

This is the first article in a series about technology at Triton and how people use it.

Charlie Auwerda is a senior at Triton who built his own computer over the summer.

Auwerda says he built his own computer to save money but still get a powerful computer.

“You save money to get a computer of the same power level,” Auwerda said. Auwerda spent $1,200 to build a computer that would have cost $2,000 if he had bought it prebuilt.

If you want to build your own computer, Auwerda recommends ordering the parts from Amazon and Newegg.com. Auwerda also said that building a computer is easier than one may think.

“It was actually pretty easy,” Auwerda said, “You just get the parts and put them in the case”. If someone doesn’t know what they are doing, Auwerda recommends using online resources to find guides and advice on what to do.

Building your own computer is easier than people may think and can save a lot of money that you would spend on a customized computer that you can use for years to come.
