Drake Is Not The G.O.A.T

Drake took off with his music career in 2006 after being an actor on the show Degrassi, releasing album Room For Improvement and he didn’t stop there. He then proceeded to keep making music and released two more projects Comeback Season and So Far Gone, then signed to Lil Wayne’s Young Money Entertainment which brought him up drastically. Many people think Drake is the G.O.A.T (greatest of all time) but I strongly disagree and I will show you why in this review.

Don’t get me wrong, Drake is very talented, he has inspired and still is inspiring many other young artists in the world trying to have a music career. But there are many bad things Drake is doing behind closed doors, such as stealing ideas, cadence, flows and just the whole style of other artists. Drake is known for being a “culture vulture” (a person making profit using unhonorable practices from a culture they don’t even care for) by many people. “Culture vulture”, for example in music, major record labels signing the most viral rapper at the moment just because they’re popping. No matter how bad their music is, they’re just using them for good money. Drake will attach himself to anything that’s popular at the moment because it’s “trendy.” He will do this because he knows it will attract the younger generation and it makes him “relatable.” This is why he is so popular, but a G.O.A.T shouldn’t have to be a sell out to attract a big audience and sell good records.

Artist XXXTentacion who was murdered June of 2018, accused Drake of stealing his flow on one of his hit songs “Look At Me!.” It was a big deal for a while and made many people turn towards Drake as a bad guy stealing from such a much less popular and younger artist. Link to article explaining this incident shown here. https://zorbtour.com/2017/01/30/drake-steals-yet-another-rappers-flow/

For an artist to be a G.O.A.T they should be able to come up with their own ideas and have something special about them and their own style. A G.O.A.T also would be someone that has a great story, came from completely nothing to something. Drake had all this handed to him since he was already famous for being a child actor, so it’s pretty easy to be noticed making music when you’re already very famous.

I also think Drake’s old albums are much better than his old ones. His old projects such as Take Care and Nothing Was The Same are much more enjoyable than his newer projects like More Life and Scorpion. His old albums seemed like he was doing this for the fans, for the actual art of music and to make people happy. Now his albums are just mediocre and it all comes off as a money grab and he just doing it just to do it, his heart doesn’t seem in it.

All of this is just my opinion on Drake, I think he is a very good artist and I enjoy a lot of his music, but I just don’t like him as a person. He seems to come off as a very fake and unloyal guy from what is told about him. So, what are your thoughts on Drake, do you think he is the G.O.A.T?
