The upcoming seniors have hopes to see new changes for their final year of high school to make it the best that it can be. Here are the top five on their wish list:

5) Lunch Changes

This past year, the lunches changed from having three, one in the beginning of fifth period, one in the middle and one at the end, to having only two, one at the beginning of the period and one at the end. Some students want this to be changed back to how it was in the previous years.

“I personally don’t like the change, the lunches are very packed now and I liked having a break in between some classes,” said rising senior Katie MacDonald.

4) Wearing Hats

This has been a common controversial topic for the school in the past couple years. This past year, they began to allow us to wear hats on Fridays only after paying $2. Many students think wearing hats should be allowed every day, free of charge.

“They’re said to be distracting but I don’t see it. They’re just something kids wear for style or to cover a bad hair day,” rising senior Justin Stanley says.

3) Schedule Change

The schedules have been the same for years now, always having certain classes at the beginning of the day and certain ones towards the end. Some students feel that their performance in a class differs depending on what time of the day the classes are held. Having a complete different schedule every day may improve some grades.

“I usually do my best work in the middle of the day because that’s when I have the most energy. In the morning I’m tired and towards the end of the day, I’m just thinking about going home,” said rising senior Christina Gordon.

2) Paying for Parking

Students are asked to pay the school $180 for a permanent parking spot for the year, or to do a dollar a day every day that they park at the school. Many students feel the pay is unnecessary.

“I think this is ridiculous, we go to a public school, there should be free parking. Paying to be at school should be the least of our worries,” rising senior Julia Rennie said.

1) “Open Campus”

Many students this year and in the past have been getting in trouble for leaving school during free periods or lunch to get food or stop home, etc. A variety of students think this should be allowed without punishment.

“If I have a free period and I’m hungry, my car is right outside, and I finished my homework I’m going to be tempted to up and leave. As long as we’re back before an actual class starts, I don’t really see the harm,” rising senior Emily Wood said.
