With the recent sexual assault allegations surrounding Brett Kavanaugh many around Triton hallways and classrooms have lots to say about him, and his confirmation to the supreme court.

The opinions on Kavanaugh at Triton are heavily mixed, some absolutely despise the man and think he should not be a justice, while others consider him a very respectful republican.

“Its disgusting that someone like that man can do things like that and still become a justice,” stated senior Jon Rolfe.

One in 5 women across the United States will/have been sexually assaulted (www.nsvrc.org) and when they get the courage to come up and talk about what happened to them (with evidence) should be praised for being brave not attacked.

“We need to believe women, because women have been wrongfully doubted so many times. Even when they had good evidence,” stated junior Drew Bouley.

While many of us think it is ok to criticize someone when they have done something wrong, more and more people nowadays just hate on certain people without evidence proving that the person is really at any fault for what he/she is being accused for.

“Most democrats and just overall people seem to have declared Kavanaugh guilty based on the accusations alone,” Bouley stated.

Kavanaugh`s nomination to become a justice has greatly affected the way the supreme court is viewed. Students that expressed their opinions say that the supreme court is the highest place of professionalism and introducing a new justice with the past that Kavanaugh has had. It is currently at a low point compared to the usual highly viewed supreme court.

“His nomination has hurt the credibility of the Supreme Court. We would be so much better off with another justice,” stated junior Jack Crocker.

At the committee hearing Kavanaugh gave his testimony on the allegations laid before him and the students thoughts were mixed,

“Kavanaugh’s testimony at the committee hearing with Dr. Ford was weak,” Crocker stated.

There are many women out there falsely accusing men all around the around the world for a sense of entitlement or just the fact that the man has wronged them in the past and they want to get equal to a degree. These allegations (even if not true) have the opportunity to ruin a man career and title for the rest of his life. Allegations like these can linger on with you throughout life.

“The allegations on Kavanaugh are proven to be wrong and I personally think that the women who accused him and all the other women who accuse these innocent men should not be praised,” stated Kyle Noonan, junior.

The students talked to at Triton agree that if a women accuses a men of sexaul assault (without any evidence) they should not get praised for it. Just because a allegation is thrown towards one way doesn’t mean that the person is guilty, in the American legal system its innocent until proven guilty, not guilty until proven innocent as it may seem to the public.

“Dr. Ford, the woman who first accused Brett of sexually assaulting her is getting all this fan mail and has people feeling sorry for her just because she accused him with no prior evidence. That just isn’t right,” stated Noonan as he was getting up from his desk.

The majority of students interviewed thought that Kavanaugh is a good guy who has been been wrongfully accused to many around Triton.

“I believe he is innocent until proven guilty, I don’t think either case should be taken to heart,” Stated Eric Desprez, senior.

There are still many people that are still completely backing up Kavanaugh and they truly support him with everything he does to this day.

“I think he had the right mindset and all in all is a good person. If I could cast a vote I would have voted for him,” stated Desprez.
