Time certainly flies, but senior May Ganzenmuller made sure to make the best of her short four years in high school. A lacrosse and cross country captain as well as a member of the National Honors Society, Ganzenmuller worked hard as a well-rounded student athlete. She will be attending the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the fall along with her twin brother, Colin.

Ganzenmuller will be graduating on June 2 in the Triton football stadium along with the rest of the Class of 2018. After graduation, Ganzenmuller eagerly anticipates attending UMass, which she has been planning on applying to for awhile now. Ganzenmuller was originally introduced to UMass when her older sister, Sarah Ganzenmuller (‘15) decided to go there after graduating. When asked how she felt about graduating, Ganzenmuller told The Voice that it was “bittersweet”. She said, “I am excited to move on but I’ll miss all the familiarities of high school”. When asked why she decided on UMass Amherst, Ganzenmuller told The Voice, “I wanted to stay in New England and have gotten a lot of exposure to it through my sister. I really like how big it is and how there’s so many people there and chances to make friends.” Ganzenmuller also applied to other colleges including University of Connecticut, Miami University, University of New Hampshire, University of Vermont, and Boston College.

In her spare time, Ganzenmuller has devoted herself to sports, extracurriculars, and work. She is an active member of the cribbage club. As a freshman, Ganzenmuller ran cross country and played lacrosse. Four years later, she became a senior captain for both teams. Ganzenmuller lead the cross country team to a 6-4 finish. In the spring, the girls lacrosse team led by Ganzenmuller as well as fellow captains Erika Siemasko and Gabby Doucot just got their first win against North Reading on Tuesday, May 1. At that game, Ganzenmuller score a hat trick of three goals in the 12-7 victory. Their current record is 1-5.

Aside from sports and extracurriculars, Ganzemuller has spent much time devoted to making lifelong bonds with high school friends. Fellow senior Gwen Norton told The Voice, “May and I are really good friends and I’m going to miss her so much next year. She’s so funny and I’m going to miss joking around with her.”

Fellow senior Julia Cordeau will also be attending UMass Amherst in the fall and told The Voice her thoughts. Cordeau told The Voice, “I’m so glad that May and I are both going to UMass. It will be nice to have a familiar face there. She’s so fun and I’m hoping to see her around or out one night!” Cordeau and Ganzenmuller are two of many seniors planning on attending UMass this fall.

Ganzenmuller’s twin, Colin, will also be attending UMass and shared some of his thoughts about attending college with his twin. C. Ganzenmuller told The Voice, “May thinks that she picked UMass before me but really we all know that I have always wanted to go to UMass. I’m not happy. Hopefully I don’t date all of her friends again.”

Other fun facts about Ganzenmuller include that her celebrity crush is Morgan Freeman. Her favorite teacher at Triton was Ms A because they always joke around and she loves being active. Her favorite class was anatomy, junior year. Another one of her favorite classes was AP Microeconomics because the subject interests her and she enjoys Mr. Dube’s teaching methods.
