On May 13th, Mother’s Day will be celebrated by many throughout the country. Mother’s day is known to honor all mother’s by doing something special for them once a year.

There are several students at Triton that celebrate this holiday in different ways. Senior Aimee Azevedo, described her unique tradition that she does every year with her mom.

“Mother’s day is a special day for me because I consider my mom to be my best friend and I have the opportunity to spend more time with her,” Azevedo said. Azevedo also explained that she doesn’t really think buying her mother anything is the right away to express how much she means. With that being said, Azevedo thinks quality time is more meaningful.

“I think this year I just plan on spending all day with her and doing activities around the house. Maybe have a day by our pool depending on how nice it is out, or maybe even making breakfast or lunch together,” said Azevedo.

As for Senior Christina Gordon, she explained to the Triton Voice how close she is with her Mom, and how she would love to spend the day with her as well and make it as special as possible. “My mom bends over backwards for me and my family. I think I’m going to get her a nice gift along with a card, and maybe even go out to dinner with her. My mom does everything for us so she deserves to have a great day not only surrounded by me, but with my four other sisters,” Gordon said.

Senior Josh Rolfe and Senior David Durante, have the same tradition every year which is giving their Mother’s breakfast in bed, and give them some sort of flowers which consists particularly of roses. “My dad and I usually go to Shaw’s in Newburyport  and pick out two different sets of flowers. We would both get our own to give to her, and she loves it especially because she loves flowers,” said Durante.

“It’s been a tradition for my two sisters and I to make our mom breakfast in bed. It is one of those special times of the year where we show our appreciation for her. We don’t just do this for our mom but our dad as well and for birthdays of course,” said Rolfe. Triton student’s are attempting to go out of their way to make this holiday special for their loving mother’s depending  on whether or not they have annual traditions, or if they change it up every year.
