The movie starts with a pilot, Oscar Isaac’s Po Dameron, retrieving something of great importance to the resistance. The pilots mission is quickly changed when the First Order shows up to find the same thing. Po quickly runs off and tries to leave but ends up trying to save the village but is capture and doesn’t save it. Then he is saved by a stormtrooper turned resistance. They crash on the desert planet of Jakku and the story continues on from there.

The movie was episode four redone. From the comparisons of a desert planet with the main character trapped on it to Star Killer Base and the Death Star. One of the biggest similarities that is very easy to see from this movie to Episode 4 is the opening shot of the movie. In episode 4 they have a Star Destroyer going over head and eclipsing everything that we see. They fry to do that here by having the star destroyer com in from another angle to change it but it is meant to to do the same thing that the Episode 4 shot was meant to do. Show us the power of the Darks Side.

The universe of Star Wars dates way back before there were really really good visual effects. So to keep the movie authentic to its roots the goal was to make the aliens with as many real effects as possible and I think that was the right decision. The creatures look like the belong in the movie and I think that they do not take anything away from the movie when you could have just used CG characters. I think that they really make the movie an authentic Star Wars movie.

J.J. Abrams directing is still very good and I think that the movie came out very well. With all the different battles that you get with the little touches of just seeing the X-Wings going against Tie Fighters from a different perspective then just looking at the pilot in the cockpit. John Williams’s score is still beautiful as ever. The Score is overall beautiful with the iconic runs coming in when you see the first things to remind you to the original trilogy. Like seeing the Millenium Falcon for the first time you hear a run.

This movie was really good for what was expected when Disney bought the franchise. So with all that said I give this movie a 4.5/5 stars.
