-“Do you guys have peppermint-mocha yet?”

-“No, I’m sorry, we have not received any holiday flavors yet.”

Dunkin Donuts is quiet now that the cold is

setting in, and all us workers can hear around 7 p.m. is the store phone ringing. “I swear if it is the same lady that has been calling all week, I will freak out,” I think to myself. But it was, yet again, the peppermint-mocha lady.

The holiday season brings out flavors at Dunkin Donuts and special items that apparently brings something out in customers as well. A certain lady had been calling our store seemingly every night for a week just to see if we had brought our peppermint-mocha flavor back. But now they are here, the holiday flavors.

People love Dunkin Donuts coffee and even ice coffee during cold weather. Being an employee at the rotary location, I make a crazy amount of coffee a day, probably a good 100 of them. And when the season of winter comes around people can’t help but get their Holiday-fix.

Not only has the peppermint-mocha come back, but so has cinnamon brown sugar swirl a new flavor Dunkin Donuts wanted to give a go and is getting a lot of hits. Our pumpkin and maple pecan are also still in action, but they were fall items so get them now, before they go away.

The peppermint-mocha is nice in the way of it taking away your coffee aftertaste. It also, “tastes like a liquid Thin Mint,” said Dunkin drinker, Kellie Corbin. The swirl is good and not too powerful on sweetness or minty; good the whole way through the coffee.

The donuts as well have seen some seasonal changes. The vanilla frosted is usually a red coating this time of year with optional snowflake sprinkles. Another donut that is new for this year is our sugar cookie donut, topped with sugar cookie pieces and filled with cookie dough cream. Lastly Dunkin Donuts has a gingerbread cookie donut with as ginger frosting and gingerbread cookie pieces on top.

The Sugar Cookie donut is great as far as flavor, but it has an extremely sweet filling. The toppings are tasty and crunchy but I would never be able to, nor do I suggest to eat a whole one. The gingerbread is a little bit of a let down because the frosting is good but the cookie pieces on top are almost a donut-changer. The pieces are not as fresh as you would hope a gingerbread cookie would be and have a stale like texture, which is a huge downside of this donut.

Dunkin Donuts follows the trends of stores and is currently completely decked out in holiday decorations, even though it is right after Thanksgiving.
