The Rowley Market Basket is one of the local supermarkets. It is located on Newburyport Turnpike in Rowley. This is one of the few local markets in the northeastern portion of Massachusetts. Market Basket was reviews on five categories, management, prices, location, customer service, and speed. Market Basket would get a rating of four out of five star rating.

The first star would be for the excellent management. But the managers in the Rowley MB are not only kind, but also understanding people. Don’t get me wrong there are some quirky people that I’ve met since I started two and a half years ago. The managers know how to have a sense of humor while also being able to balance issues. The best thing about the Rowley MB is the managers.

The second star would be for the prices. The prices in the Rowley MB are unbeatable. The prices are drastically lower compared to those of Shaw’s or even Stop and Shop. The prices for grocery items are impeccable, and the pricing on bakery, fresh cooked items are very reasonable. When getting everyday items, MB is definitely the way to go. You are able to get out of the store without dropping half of your mortgage, like you would at a Shop and Stop.

The third star would be for the location. The Rowley MB is located in the ‘downtown’ of Rowley. This area is populated with businesses. MB is the only supermarket nearby our local area. Right next door is their compliment, CVS. This store provides both a compliment and also a competitor. In aisle 9 of the Rowley MB you will find all the pharmaceuticals that would be considered ‘over the counter’.

The fourth star is for customer service. The employees of the Rowley MB are generally nice and pleasant to the customers. The employees of the Rowley MB are paid well, and have many bonuses that also provide customer service incentives. The baggers as well as the cashiers always greet you with a smile and inquire about your well being.

The lack of the fifth star is because of the speed of the Rowley MB. When you are going into the store you must allow for around 30 minutes extra to get all of the items you need. The other customers are often blocking aisles or aimlessly walking around the aisles, slowing down your speed. In addition to this, the majority of the front end employees are new, meaning that they have been working under a year. This being said, the cashiers aren’t as experienced, and the baggers aren’t as efficient. In addition, society has a real lack of understanding of the word ‘express’, this does not mean bring your whole family of five weeks supply of food through this means bring the mustard you forgot for your cookout through.

Best Things to Get:

Produce: The bags that you can use to pick up your dog poop in are free

Meat: The pickles that are randomly places in between the bacon and the sausage

Grocery: The random trinkets hanging down from little drop strips in the middle and end caps of different isles

Dairy: One of the 700 varieties of single yogurts that the department has.
Courtesy Booth: Christmas stamps
Markets Kitchen: The $.10 salad dressing that customers will fight you about because “it should go with the salad”

Bakery: The free cookies that are extras and are put out in a basket on top of the pastry case, or the free coffee (guaranteed to be weak)

Frozen Foods: THE MINI-ICECREAMs

Deli: Always get a cheese sample!!

Checkout: The orange stickers (make sure you borrow a decoy kid)

Seafood: The small sushi bar that is a ‘hit or miss type of deal’

BIGGEST TIP:

If you only have a few items and you need to run, as long as you have no produce, the Courtesy Booth can ring you up. The reason that they can’t do anything from produce is because they don’t have a scale. This will be by far the quickest way to get out of the store with only a few items. Don’t tell other people about this tip because then the Booth will be just like express with people clogging up the lines with 400 items.
