Freshman of the Week

Freshmen are often looked down upon by upperclassmen and seen as being at the bottom of the totem pole. However, some freshmen at Triton are competent and are doing well in their first year at Triton. In an attempt to acknowledge some of these exceptional freshmen, the Triton Voice interviewed freshman Kyle Odoy. A promising new athlete at the school who is currently playing varsity football.

Odoy says that so far his classes are going well, although there is more writing than he’s used to from middle school. He also said that students are given a lot more independence in high school.

“You have to self manage a lot more than middle school,” said Odoy, “you have a lot more freedom.” Odoy’s favorite teacher so far is his biology teacher, Ms. Jamie Richards, who, like Odoy, is new to the school this year.

Odoy is currently playing varsity football and plans to play basketball and baseball later in the year. He said that the jump from freshmen football to varsity was huge. “It’s a lot more strategy and more work. Plays are way more complex.”

Odoy is looking forward to the first break of the year around Thanksgiving.

Odoy understands that high school can be a difficult time for students, and especially seniors with college plans and application deadlines. Odoy’s advice for seniors is to “make the most of this year because it’s your last one.”  Odoy said that he doesn’t have any plans for college yet.
