Fly Invasions Explained

Students and Teachers all over Triton have noticed the increase of pesky house flies all over the place. But, why are there all of a sudden so many around?

Truth is, all these flies are here due to the recent warm weather and global warming, said biology teacher, Dr. Ellen Moore.

According to research by Moore, the cold weather in the Fall and Winter seasons are supposed to kill off the flies, or make them dormant. So far this Fall, we haven’t had much cold weather at all, so the population of the flies is doubling. This is because the eggs the flies lay hatch faster in warm weather than in the cold.

For those cooler days we have the flies will find ways to move into our houses, and the school in search of warmth and food to stay alive.

The increase of the population of these flies also increases the amount of flies carrying diseases. Lucky for us, unlike mosquitos,  the bacteria that the flies carry is not deadly,  just an annoying short sickness we could catch, explained Moore.

There isn’t much we can do about this invasion of annoying house flies, but hope for cooler weather to bring the population back down.
