In the beginning of October, Mr.Horsely, the marine biology and environmental science teacher, began housing a ball python in his classroom.
His name is Dimitri. He is approximately three to four years old. Ball pythons are from the sub-Saharan of Africa. However, Mr. Horsely was given Dimitri from the former High School art teacher, Robyn Verrette’s, son. Dimitri was rescued with the two other pythons that are kept in Ms. Richards’ room.
Dimitri is on a strict diet of small rodents. Most of the time, you’ll find Dimitri resting in his rock. He prefers to be in a dark, isolated area to sleep. His cage is always kept at eighty-five degrees, and if he ever gets cold he will sit under the lamp. Sometimes, you’ll be able to catch him taking a bath in his water bowl.
