Hi! My name is Maddie Mailhoit. I am 17 years old and I am a senior at Triton High School. Inside of school, I am a member of the Best Buddies program and I play on the soccer team. My favorite classes in school are ceramics, marketing, and of course, journalism. At home, I live with my mom and sister, along with my two dogs. Although most of my weekends are spent working at a coffee shop in Salisbury, I always try to squeeze in time for my friends and family. Even though I do not plan on pursuing a career in journalism, I am excited to step outside of my comfort zone and try a new style of writing.I think being a journalist for the school newspaper is important because I get the opportunity to inform my community on pressing topics that deserve our attention. After high school, I plan on going to cosmetology school to become a hairstylist. I've always known that I would want to pursue something in the cosmetology field but I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do until recently. Helping people feel more confident in themselves was a huge contributing factor as to why becoming a hair stylist was such a clear and easy choice for me.
