Gennes Packer, Staff Writer and Social Media Editor
Hey! My name is Gennes Packer, I am 17 years old and a senior at Triton High School.
I live in Newbury, Massachusetts with my Dad, Michael, and older brother, Finnley. I have 5 sisters, 1 brother, 4 dogs, 2 cats, and 1 fish. I am on the fall competition cheerleading team and have been cheering at Triton for 4 years. I also help manage the wrestling team during the winter. Outside of school I babysit for two different families. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my friends or family, sleeping, and painting.
Even though I know I do not want to be a journalist when I grow up, I chose to take journalism as a way to be more a part of the school community. Being in journalism helps you connect with students, teachers, and staff throughout the school. I also get to know more about the Triton community, as well as what is happening outside of school.
I think being a journalist for the school newspaper is important because not only do you get to personally connect with the community and learn about events that are happening, but you also get to inform the rest of the school about it. Allowing the students to hear news about their school from another student or class member they know is more exciting then hearing it from a random source.
After high school, I am planning on attending college for Pediatric Psychology. I want to have my own practice and focus on childhood development, as well as substance abuse disorders. You can reach me at [email protected].
