One student’s hard-earned grades show how he is attempting to give all he can in school.

Students these days are becoming more and more obsessed with the grades they receive on every little assignment, but some kids seem to not care at all.

The Triton voice spoke with six high school students about how much they really care about their grades.

Junior Katie Blouin shared why she’s motivated to get good grades, “I work very hard to achieve the grades I want because I think grades are one of the most important things in high school.”

Junior Kaylyn Pesaturo seems to agree with Blouin. “I definitely work for my grades, school is more important than a lot of other things.”

Good grades don’t just come naturally so how hard do students work to achieve them? Junior Michelle Bradanese explained, “To get good grades, Ill study for my tests for about an hour, maybe more than that but I do my homework every night and that takes me two or three hours.”

A lot of students receive High Honor roll and Honor roll due to their hard work. For some hard working students it’s harder to achieve all A’s and B’s on their report cards. Junior Kelly Sharkey tries her hardest to get Honor roll but usually gets Merit. “I get very close to getting Honor roll sometimes but that just doesn’t happen because sometimes it’s hard to bring up a C to a B.”

Students who receive good grades are usually in Honors or AP classes. Junior Olivia Ritchie takes two AP and three Honors classes, ” I take AP Comp, AP Micro, Honors U.S. 2, Honors Spanish, and Honors Physics.”  Taking this many high level classes can be very hard to keep up with but Ritchie’s drive to do well in school, helps her achieve excellent grades.

We asked these students why they think some other students aren’t as successful with getting good grades.

Junior Paige Volpone explained, “students get bad grades some times because they either don’t even try to study or put in the work or I know some kids that try really hard and stay after but just can’t understand the material.”
