Gunna’s Musical Drip

Gunna, a popular rap artist, released his new album Drip or Drown 2, a 16- track album that includes features from other popular rap artists, such as Lil Baby, Young Thug, and Playboi Carti, as well as solo songs.

To critique and speak on the newly released album by rap artist Gunna, and to compare Gunna to other rap artists, their music, and their fan base. The Triton Voice investigated and looked into this newly released album to get all reactions.

Rap artist Gunna, full name Sergio Kitchens, from College Park, GA has been working on producing new music and On February 22, 2019, Gunna released his new album Drip or Drown 2. Based on previous albums that were released by Gunna, Drip or Drown 2 predictably should be well produced and popular. Previous albums released by Gunna include Drip Season, released in 2016, Drip Season 2, released in 2017, Drip Season 3, released in 2018, and Drip Harder, also released in 2018.

Gunna became famous through a friend who knew another rap artist, Young Thug. Gunna’s debut album that gave him his foundation for fame was Drip Season, released in 2016. Although, Gunna became a mainstream rap artist in 2018. Drip or Drown 2 is a sequel to Gunna’s 2017 EP Drip or Drown. Gunna is promoting his new album with a tour starting in March 2019. The story behind the art in the album cover is unique. The artwork for his new album features himself underwater, holding up an umbrella, with models floating in the background.

Gunna’s music is produced by the labels YSL records, 300 Entertainment, and Atlantic Records. The label 300 Entertainment has also signed other popular artists such as Famous Dex, Fetty Wap, Tee Grizzley, Youngboy Never Broke Again, and Young Thug. With the help of this producers, Gunna has popular songs. The most popular songs on Gunna’s newly released album are “Wit it”, “Outstanding”, “One Call”, “Baby Birkin”, and “Same Young N****”. Drip or Drown 2 is also number 2 on the US billboard 200 chart. Other rap artist, Offset, dropped an album called Father of 4, the same day Gunna released Drip or Drown 2. Offset was predicted to have the top sales among all rappers on the US Billboard 200, but Gunna’s album Drip or Drown 2 beat those expectations by less than 500 sales.

Drip or Drown 2 is a well produced album by a fairly new rap artist. With the help from his labels and other artists, Gunna is becoming one of the most popular rap artists. Throughout the album, there are songs that keep my attention, on the other hand, there are others that I simply just do not listen to. Some songs on the album seem as if they just blend into each other and are easily forgettable. Songs from this album that I listen to most frequently are “Outstanding”, and “3 Headed Snake”. Previous songs by rap artist Gunna that I still listen to are “Drip or Drown”, “Sold Out Dates”, and “Oh Okay”. Music Gunna has produced previous to his new album still slap.  Personally I am a fan of Gunna and I listen to his music often.

Gunna, a new artist in the rap game is making his way to the top. With features of other popular artists on his albums, he is slowly becoming bigger and better than ever.
