Who is or who are the physics teachers for next year

Makayla Spreuge, likes how Mr. Tim Jepson brifley explains something then lets students go to lab tables in groups and work together to complete the work given.

“I like that it means that I have reached them in one way or another,” Mr. Tim Jepson explains.

Currently the teacher of physics here at Triton High School is Mr. Tim Jepson, but this might change for next year. Next year Mr. Ian Mcbee is going to be teaching physics. Mr.Jepson has been teaching physics for two years and he has loved every minute of it, he explained. Jepson speaks highly of Mr.Mcbee saying how he is an amazing teacher and thinks that he is quite fit to take over teaching physics.

It is hard for students to think about mixed classes due to that fact that if they are not ready to lean at an honors level they have to be. This year  at Triton High School only one physics class is offered, and that is one of cp mixed with honors. Learning at an honors level is to much for some students but that seems very unfair to the students who want to take physics but don’t because they cant learn as quickly.

“Even though cp students get a different work level than honors, I’m still unsure about having to learn at the same pace as them,” explains Isabella Cambece.

Students who have already taken chemistry with Mr.Jepson really enjoyed the way that he had taught them. Issabella Cambece explained that she is thinking about taking physics next year but is not quite sure how she feels about theclass being a combined class of honors and cp level students.

“ I wouldnt want my chemistry classes to be this way,” expalins Mr.McBee, “basically everybody takes chemistry but, for physics I think it has gone very well, in terms of having mixed class, much better than I anticipated. But teaching two levels at the same time is inherently a little difficult, and it would allow me to focucsing on making things more specific.”

According to Mr. Tim Jepson as well as Mr. McBee they both agree that having two teachers would be nice. They explain how it would be much easier and they would be able to dircecly focus on the specific aspects of the cirriculum more intensively. Making all class material including tests would be easier if there were split classes, so that one teacher would be going specifically for one level, rather than having one teacher having to worry about making two differnt sets of material.

Mr. Ivan Ferron explains how it has been hard to figure out for what is going on next year, how right now everything is up in the air. It will all depend on if Mr. Ian McBee gets his teaching licence for physcics, or if Triton decided to higher a new experienced teacher instead.

“Next year is really up in the air, Mr. Ivan Ferron said, “we lost one and a half positions, so we are hoping that we will be able to hire a techer with duel certifications so that we will have some options.”

Right now fewer and fewer students have been interested in taking physics especially girls, according to Mr.Brennan. Not much has really been defined for what is going to occur for next year. If there is not enough students, the only option will be a mixed class. However, if more students decide to sign up for physics in the up coming year having split classes of honors as well as cp would be a very good option.

“Everything is going to depend on students,” Mr.Brennan explained.
