A Second Chance… for Breakfast
An opportunity for students to eat
November 3, 2018
After a sleepless night of doing homework, students may wake up in the morning with no time to eat before you run out the door. To solve this issue, the second chance of breakfast is here for students to rely on. Each morning, kids at Triton can find the cart out for business for only a short time of three minutes starting at 9:40.
According to Kelloggs, only 36 percent of American high schoolers eating breakfast in the morning, the cafeteria staff has come up with this idea to help teens eat at a reasonable time and be ready to learn. Milk, cereal, breakfast bars, and juices can be found at the carts. Both cash and students IDs are accepted just like in the cafeteria.
Senior Amy Clark said “[The carts] are visible so it’s interesting and gets their attention and reminds them to stop and grab food to be able to make it to lunch. It’s really good for students who forgot to have breakfast.”
These carts have already caused controversy among Triton high schoolers based on the traffic some believe they can create.
“The upstairs cart doesn’t cause a lot of traffic but the downstairs one definitely does. They just need to move spots. It’s a good idea though. ” Explained Sophomore Julia Casaletto
Sophomore Jacob Forrest on the other hand believes the Second Chance Breakfast carts “are pointless. It’s great we can get snacks, but they aren’t good. They also cause a lot of traffic”
Carts can be found in the math and foreign language hallways, usually in a corner. At each stand, a cafeteria employee is running it.
The Second Chance Breakfast Carts are on a trial run, so we don’t know if they are going to be around for the rest of the year. But for now they are the students disposal for a second chance to eat breakfast.
