Dr. Champy

Growing up through highschool, Erik Champy had always known that he wanted to become a teacher. Dr. Champy began to think about becoming a teacher in kindergarten and still keeps in touch with his pre-k teacher today.

“I always knew I wanted to be an educator/teacher and I started watching and examining them very carefully and the things that worked and the things that didn’t work” he said.

When Dr. Champy graduated, he started to attend Salem State College, which he describes as “a teacher factory”. Soon enough he got his doctor’s degree and started his job as a teacher in salisbury. Eventually Dr. Champy became a middle school counselor at Triton for a number of years until his term ended on july 14th.

During the time Dr. Champy was gone, he ran for president of the Massachusetts Teachers Association but had sadly lost.

After being away from Triton for 2 years, Dr. Champy decided to return to the front of the classroom or at least behind a desk as a guidance counselor. Today you can find him in the triton guidance office.

“I love my career, im delighted I chose this profession. No regrets.” said Champy.

With almost 25 years of teaching under his belt and after being elected statewide vice president of the largest labor union in New England, The Massachusetts Teachers Association, he is happy with the path he has chosen. “I am far more capable then I was almost 30 years ago.” he said.
