Taylor Penniman Q&A
January 5, 2018
The Triton Voice has spotted and interviewed several fashionistas within Triton High this year so far. But now, we have a new fashionista who holds the crown for the best dressed of the class of 2018.
Senior Taylor Penniman is someone students envy in the hall when they spot her outfit. With her love of art and creativity, Penniman easily expresses her fashion at school. She is headed to a college for fine arts, hoping to become a major in advertising and design.
How does it make you feel winning ‘Best Dressed’ for a suprelevative?
I love fashion and I have always loved dressing nice for school, so it really is nice to be recognized for it because I do take a lot of time to plan out what I wear.
Do you ever like to dress down? If so, what do you wear?
If I’m at home, I am never ever dressed nice. I am in sweatpants and a huge sweatshirt. At school, I dress down by wearing leggings, but I’ve been told that I’m still dressed up in them. Over the summer I dress down a lot, wearing shorts and tank tops. At school, I don’t dress for others, I dress for myself.
What is a typical school day outfit for you?
I have days dedicated to either skirts or pants. If I choose to wear jeans, I dress them up with a nice pair of shoes and some accessories. If I wear skirts, I’ll usually wear flat heeled boots and a nice top.
Do you have a fashion inspiration?
I’ve never based my outfits off of celebrities but there are definitely celebrities I love who have great fashion. Victoria Beckham and Blake Lively are gorgeous and I love their styles.
What are your favorite fashion trends of each season?
For autumn, I absolutely love tall boots over the knee boots. For winter, I always wear warm clothes, especially big, bulky scarves and sweaters. For spring, I begin wearing colorful shoes to match with my tops, I love spring colors. And I love summer because it’s a lot more casual and comfortable because I get to wear shorts, tank tops and converse.
What is your favorite color to wear?
Definitely red. Red is my favorite color to wear to pop! I love a little pop of red.
Is there anything you feel like you can’t wear to school because you’re afraid to?
No, absolutely not because that undermines fashion itself. I dress for school how I enjoy dressing, and that sometimes includes three-inch heels and a dress. People may look at me and wonder what the heck I’m doing, but that’s my way of feeling confident. It always has been and always will.
