Gaming has taken the world by storm and is transforming many childhoods and even starting to slowly transform the sports world.

“I love gaming since it gives me an outlet to vent and get away from everything”  stated Joshua Lind.  

Gaming is considered the action of playing video games.   Gaming is one of the most popular and widespread hobbies of current day and age and is enjoyed by a very large range of ages.  

However, one of the biggest and most controversial topics surrounding gaming is the argument of console gaming vs pc gaming.  

A console or game console is considered a specialized device that is designed to run specific games and allows the user to play the game through a controller or joy-stick.  The most popular console brands are Xbox, made by Windows, and Play Station, made by Sony.

 PC gaming is the action of playing video games on a personal computer, laptop or desktop.  The most popular PC gaming brands are more diverse than console but at the top are brands such as ASUS, MSI, Alienware, and CyberPower.  

The argument stems from which one is better and opinions vary.  There is no right and wrong and each side has devoted fans.  So, what are some of Triton alumni opinions?  

“I prefer pc gaming because there’s mods and you can always and update an older computer whereas with console you have to buy a new ones”  said Triton Junior Kyle Brancaleone he hits upon one of the more popular pros of computer gaming which is modifications and longevity.  When it comes to Pc gaming there is an option to install mods or modifications to a game changing different aspects of it.  The other thing Brancaleone brings up is the fact that computers can be upgraded if they’re getting old.  If a computer’s graphic card or processor is getting old it can be replaced and the owner won’t need to worry about getting a whole new computer.  However, when a console gets old and the new generation comes out it will eventually need to be replaced since it won’t be able to keep up.  

However not everyone feels this way and for valid reason.  

“I prefer console since its easier and less expensive.”  Said Josh Lind a junior from Triton High School.

His point for preferring console over pc is also well defended since the average console costs around 400-600 dollars.  A good pc for gaming however can cost anywhere from 800 to 2000 dollars.  That can be very rough on the wallet and leads many to prefer consoles over Pc’s.

Another advocate for pc gaming is Conrad Jankowski a freshman at Umass Lowell.

“Pc gaming has more options that are just better than console and by playing console your limiting yourself.”  Said Jankowski.

He like Brancaleone believes that pc gaming gives you more options and more potential through mods and the overall ability to customize the computer which console gaming lacks.  

So which one is better? Well that is a question that has not exact answer since it is heavily opinionated.  So the best answer really is, do you want power or do you want a lower price tag.  The choice is yours.
