Sweets Straight to Your Steps
Amazon’s boxes of sweet treats delivered straight to your doorstep, two days after you order them
December 4, 2017
There is a reason that Amazon’s stock is $1,186.00 dollars per share. It is because of their ingenuity and creativity with things like ‘Dash Buttons’. With a Dash Button, users don’t even need to log into Amazon on their computer or mobile device, they can simply press the button and expect the product at their doorstep two days later.
Dash Buttons allow Amazon Prime members to request an oval shaped magnet that has a button on one side and the product name on the other. These Buttons link directly to an Amazon account or to an Amazon Alexa device. In order to prevent accidental ordering, Dash Buttons require verification. If connected to Alexa, users can simply ask Alexa to confirm their order for them, however, if the Dash Button is not connected to an Alexa device, users will have to log into their Amazon account to confirm their Dash order.
While most Dash Buttons are for specific products, there is one Button that is for a group of products that come packaged together, similar to a subscription box. The Amazon Sweet’s Box, which is ordered using the Surprise Sweets Button, is a box that is $18 per box and available to the contiguous 48 states. Each box comes with 4-6 full sized artisan confections, which can range from cookies, to candy, to caramel apples, to whoopie pies.
Unfortunately, there is a chance, since the contents of the box are a surprise until it arrives at your doorstep, that you could be allergic to, or not like, a product in the box.
“We want this to be an easy and fun way for you to indulge in new sweets, so we also want to make it easy to get a refund if you are not satisfied. Simply go to your Prime Surprise Sweets order in your order history and click ‘Return or replace items’ so we can start quickly processing your refund,” Amazon’s return policy states.
Personally, I think the idea of a box curated with fan-favorite sweet treats is fantastic, but the box fell short of my expectations. The idea and convenience are incredibly beneficial, however for the $18 dollar price tag, I expected a lot more. There was one item in each box that I did not like. For example, in the second box, I did not like the ‘Tart Cherry Limeade Gummy Bears,’ but these are not something that I would purchase on its own, due to the fact I find most cherry flavors are chemical tasting, and the gummy nature of the candy threatened my dental work.
In each box, however the mix of types of sweets was very good, and both had some sort of crunchy cookie, along with a candy and chocolate product. I think that some of the products are better for some seasons rather than others, however, as the s’mores rice crispy came completely melted and squished. While the shape was a little unconventional of a product or two, the sweets that were more traditional and blended classic flavors were very good, such as the powdered sugar covered shortbread sticks.
