Concussions are very common and are becoming more prevalent through the years. Many students through the Triton District get concussions because sports can be very dangerous. The most common sports to get a concussion are football and cheerleading because they are contact sports, which makes them quite dangerous. Here are some students who have had concussions and explain their experiences with one.

How old are you?
-I am 17 years old.
What sports do you play?
-Soccer and basketball.
Have you ever had a concussion?
-Yes I have.
How old were you when you got a concussion?
-I was a sophomore.
What sport were you playing when you got a concussion?
-I got one concussion playing soccer and three months later, I got another concussion during basketball season.
On a scale of 1-10, how bad did your head hurt when you got injured?
-My first concussion was at about a 4, but my second concussion was much worse at about a 7 or 8.
Did you have to go to the hospital for your concussions?
-Yes I did.
How many concussions have you had?
-Two.
Because of your concussion, what weren’t you allowed to do?
-I was not allowed to be on my phone or watch tv. School work was difficult as well.

-I am 16 years old.

-I do cheerleading and play softball.
How many concussions have you had?
-Three.
What sport were you playing when you got your concussions?
-I got all three of my concussions during cheerleading.
When was most recent concussion?
-This fall during cheerleading I got dropped from a stunt and no one caught me and I hit my head off the gym floor.
On a scale of 1-10 how bad did your concussion hurt?
-My most recent concussion was at about an 8, but the more concussions i get, the worse they hurt.
Did you go to the hospital for your concussions?
-Yes I went to the hospital for all three concussions just to get checked to make sure I was okay and nothing worse happened to my head.
What was the result of your concussion?
-I was not allowed to practice cheer for a few weeks and I could not go on my phone or watch tv. It was very difficult to keep up with my school work as my head was in a lot of pain.
