Can you imagine what it would be like to wake up every morning to a celebrity living in your own home? Well, that’s my life…sort of. My refrigerator was actually in the Denzel Washington movie The Equalizer that was filmed primarily in the North Shore of Massachusetts.

The story of how this refrigerator ended up in my house is not nearly as glamourous as you may think. The production company for the movie actually bought the building in Haverhill where Lowe’s used to be located and used it as the set for many of the movie’s scenes. The building was supposed to look like a home improvement store similar to Home Depot and Lowe’s so they bought all new appliances to recreate the kitchen area of the store.

In the film, Denzel Washington plays a mysterious man with a rough past who has finally settled down and started laying low. When he sees a young girl being abused by Russian mobsters he jumps into action, bringing up many emotions from his dark past.

When filming of the movie was finished the production company had an auction to sell off all the appliances they had bought. All of these brand new appliances sold for a fraction of their retail prices because the production company just wanted to get rid of them. My parents made the last minute decision to attend this auction and they ended up leaving with our new fridge (pictured above).

Now I wake up every day and walk into my kitchen to see my fridge that is already more famous than I will ever be.
