Advisory Vs. Homeroom

Triton’s Advisory Schedule

Luke Groder, Staff Writer

What’s better: advisory or homeroom?

Triton high school has a 24 minute advisory period every Wednesday. However, in the middle school, students have homeroom where they meet every day for 10 minutes.

Which is better and what do Triton students and staff think?

Ms. Beaulieu shared that, “Homeroom is just a time to get papers and share attendance. There are no activities that are designed to build relationships. I agree not all the advisory activities are a hit, however, the idea of them is to start conversations.” Beaulieu also shared that the main purpose of advisory was to create connections and build relationships.

Senior Sydney Accomando agrees and said, “I like advisory because we’re all so close, like a little family. I feel like 10 minutes of homeroom is not enough time to connect and talk.”

On the other hand, senior Olivia Doane said, “I liked it better when we had homeroom every morning. When we have advisory it messes up the schedule, which confuses a lot of people.” Doane also said that it is a nice time to wake up and get ready for the day.

Should Triton look into having homeroom again instead of advisory?
