Athlete of The Week: Jared Drouin

The third entry of an occasional series in which I will profile different Triton athletes in our school. This week’s athlete is Jared Drouin, a member of the boys basketball team. We sat down with him as more of a preview to this much anticipated basketball season with a new coach and coming off the most successful season the program has had in school history.

Position: Center
Height: 6’9”
Record: lasts year record 15-8
TV: When did you start playing basketball?
JD: I started freshmen year.
TV: Why did you start playing?
JD: I became interested in the sport. I was always told I should play because of my height though I was never really interested in it.
TV: What is your outlook on this season?
JD: We have a very good team coming back. Even though we lost some important seniors, we have many returning players that are juniors and seniors this year and will be able to contribute. Everyone wants to get back to the tournament this season and most players have been working hard this offseason.
TV: What is your favorite memory when playing basketball or with your team?
JD: The glow stick party in the Masco locker room after clinching the tournament.
TV: What are your feelings on the new coach and how do you think he will be different?
JD: He’s going to take us to the big dance.
TV: If you had one sport you wish you could play what would it be?
JD: Football
TV: What is you worst sport
JD: Hockey
TV: What are your plans for after college? where? what?
JD: I’m still not sure exactly what I will be doing.
