Newbury Elementary School welcomed a new face to their school this fall, Miss Heidi Baguette.
Baguette, a new first-grade teacher, has officially joined the school community. Baguette joined the Triton Voice for an interview and spoke with us about her year so far, her reason for moving to NES, and her amazing reason for wanting to teach.
Baggett, originally from Amesbury, comes to NES after teaching in Lexington. She began her academic journey in high school when she joined a trade program, where she earned her associate’s degree. She then went on to complete her undergraduate studies during college in Boston, then later pursued a master’s degree through an online program, all with the goal of one day being able to teach.
“I’ve always wanted to be a teacher, and even as a kid, I was always babysitting and doing things like that. I definitely have always loved being around children, even as a 10-year-old with younger siblings. I’ve just always loved being with them. I don’t know what I would do if I weren’t a teacher. I probably would go work at a bakery or something.”
Adjusting to a new school can be challenging, but Baguette is diving in with optimism and an open mind. Luckily, she had an amazing mentor with over two decades of experience to help guide her through her first year at the new school, NES second-grade teacher Mrs. Kelly Williamson.
“Ms. Baguette is an awesome teacher, and I’ve just been helping her with the logistics of settling into a new building and setting up a new classroom,” said Williamson
With her positive attitude and strong education, she has the support of her mentors and colleagues. Miss Baggett is ready to make a big impact on her first graders and the NES community.
