It’s the first day of school. You walk into your new business class with a never-before-seen teacher with a bright attitude and an eagerness to teach her new students. This new face is none other than Amy Lantainge, the new business teacher here at Triton, who is looking forward to teaching her new students.
¨ It’s been a very easy transition,” said Lantaigne. “I’ve been teaching for a long time, so kids are kids. Anywhere you go, students are students.¨
Lantainge, with a degree in finance from the University of Massachusetts’ Lesenberg School of Management, made her new home here at Triton Regional High School. She teaches two marketing classes and two financial literacy classes, as well as another business class. She has already made a name for herself amongst students who have been talking about her energetic personality and her talkative nature. She is an interactive teacher, having students work on projects that she has assigned to help them get a fast understanding of business.
Schooling hasn’t always been in the cards for Lantiagne. While she succeeded in college and secured a degree, Lantiagne didn’t always enjoy the environment of school.
“I never had a teacher who I liked,” said Lantiagne. “ I wasn’t a strong college student actually, so when I went to college, I hated it and I wanted to drop out.”
¨I like having a point person but I’m also someone who doesn’t necessarily need a point person because I don’t mind asking for help, and if I need help, I’ll just ask…Said Lantagine
Lantainge, through what we’ve known about her and spoken to her about, she really likes figuring things out by herself. And I feel that makes her personality show more, not just as a teacher but also as a person
¨I never had a teacher whom I liked, never mind, and then I was a really strong college student, actually, so when I went to college, I hated it and I wanted to drop out of college¨
¨She already knows, like the laws and like around special education and things like that she already knows that stuff….¨ Said Lantagine
Triton students Janey LeBlanc and Lily D’Andrea commented about Lantainge as a teacher. LeBlanc stated ,“I feel good about her being a new teacher; she teaches me in Principles of Business. She is very outgoing and engaging.I do enjoy the way she teaches; we mainly do projects, and we’re being taught about types of businesses.”
D’Andrea said: “I have Mrs.L for two classes and I think she does a good job teaching in both those classes. In math class she teaches real world things like financing and leasing cars, personal budgets, credit scores, and etc. In marketing, we’ve done role plays and tried to convince Mrs.L to choose our fall coffee drinks for her company.
I see Mrs.L as a very caring person. I believe that she cares about all of her students and she wants everyone to do well in her classes. I personally am enjoying the way that Mrs.L teaches. She’s very flexible and helpful. I also feel like most of the things she teaches me in my math class are skills that I will be able to apply to the real world.”
