As the school year comes to an end, so does the Spring Sports season, and with over 150 athletes across seven different teams it is both an exciting next step and an emotional goodbye.
Girls/Boys Track & Field, Girls/Boys Lacrosse, Girls Tennis, Girls Softball and Boys Baseball are those seven teams.
The 2025 season had some mixed emotions with athletes looking back on their season. For Girl’s Track and Field it went “pretty good,” said junior Colleen Johnson, who’s teammate senior Ava Burl recently broke the school record in the 800-meter race with a time of just 2 minutes and 17.26 seconds. As for the boys, they’ve had “half and half wins and losses” says freshman Gianni Gaeta and according to Wesley Clark they should work on “field events.”
Girls Tennis on the other hand, was “challenging,” said junior captain Ava Connolly, with an overall score of 0-8 in the ongoing season, it could have been better. Freshman player Quinn Sullivan says the team should work on “team spirit and bonding” next year.
As for the baseball team it has been a good season with the boys bringing home eight “dubs” (wins) from the field, beating Whittier Tech, Georgetown, Rockport, Essex Tech, Ipswich, Amesbury and Newburyport.
Girls softball rolled in with a “kinda good” season, according to senior Maddie January who says the team should work on “fundamentals,” but still had a good season with wins including over greater Lawrence Tech and Newburyport, where they finally got to sink the ship.
And finally, a rising favorite, boys and girls lacrosse. Sophomore James D’Amato described the season as “ok” and said the team should work on defense and ground balls/plays. Unfortunately, they haven’t had the best luck with a majority of losses but the girl’s team has shone through with a few more wins and a “just okay” season.
