The Triton Voice School Newspaper will be ending after this edition after beloved teacher Mr. James Allen has decided on a career change…
Mr. Allen, a longstanding journalism teacher at Triton, has decided he no longer wants to teach students at Triton High School. He wants to pursue his new career as a professional surfing instructor.
“I love teaching, but I prefer the new job I was offered. I want to ride the A-frame, not give papers A’s,” said Allen
Mr. Allen has been teaching at Triton for 19 years but wants a change of pace. He will continue to teach until the end of the 2024-2025 school year, and then he will be off to California.
“I will still be a teacher, but instead of teaching English and journalism, I will be a surfing instructor,” Allen said.
Mr. Allen is in the process of moving to California. He purchased a small home in Malibu, California, with the money he had been saving up and from the price of selling his home in New Hampshire.
“I will miss you guys, but I can’t sit at a desk any longer,” Allen said.
The Triton Voice is the Triton school newspaper, though Triton has had one since 1971. With the head of the Triton Voice leaving, no one will spearhead the newspaper, and due to budgetary restrictions, it will be shut down. The 2025 newspaper will be the last one here at Triton, which many students are upset about.
“I will miss reading the newspaper every week,” said Beckham Zizza,
Some students are going to miss the newspaper, but everyone is going to miss Mr. Allen.
