Fight club returns back to Triton High School.

Recently at Triton, rumors have been going around between students that the fight club has started up again. A few years ago some Triton students put together their own fight club, meeting up during classes, in between periods and staying after school with boxing gloves to perform a friendly duel in the boys bathroom. Senior Cam Sherman has recently brought the fight club back to life at Triton, although this time it’s much more serious.

New ringleader of the fight club Sherman has started recruiting people to get the club back into the school, behind the principals back. Meeting after or during school with others and private messages were seen and overheard by the Triton Voice who decided to investigate further as to why he is doing this, and moreover what happens during these fights.

¨Everything sucks here. The programs and all, like come on.¨ said Sherman.

Everything is boring to him, making him want something more exciting to happen at school. Sherman’s mind went straight to fights, the kind that leave you bruised up or unhappy with others if you lose. Not everyone was willing to join but those that have seen some brutality in the bathrooms.

It started all when Sherman went along asking his friends if they also felt the same way, wanting a little something more than the usual school day. When some agreed he called them and others into the bathroom announcing his new idea to bring back the fight club. He has been spending his days in the bathrooms monitoring fights, and sometimes starting random fights by messing with others getting under their skin, just enough to make them throw a punch.

Now in his clubs he has Christian Murray, Yoda Janus, and James Bradshaw,. Even sometimes other boys will randomly get thrown into the fights while entering the bathrooms.

Mr.Gette has been a witness to some of these fights during bathroom duty. He is always seen entering the bathroom with money in his pocket, ready to place his bets. It’s become quite common for betting to take place now, as stated by Tyler Jacobs.

“When I was a student here, the fight club wasn’t a thing.” Jacobs went on “ I heard about the first fight club from a teacher I am close with, they explained to me how the betting worked. working here now and experiencing the bets first hand it’s crazy”

This is a form of gambling students are learning to make and get addicted to, always wasting their money and breaking out new fights if they lose big amounts.

Hi, My name is Nancy Arias and I’m a Junior at Triton High School. At school, I generally like being around my friends and joking around if possible since it’s the time I see them most often. I also like a quieter classroom, quiet(er) voices and I infinitely love to listen to music while working. If I’m not working I’ll be on my phone or writing little poems on paper which then officially go on a journal if I like them. After school on Tuesdays sometimes I will be taking college classes until about 3:40 pm. I also work on Fridays and Saturdays in a restaurant. I love the restaurant, Maddie, and the staff but some of them are…. not the best. Activities that I do out of school include going out for walks, cooking with my brother to teach him not be like our older brother (he can’t even fry an egg), playing with my dogs, writing, lying around, cleaning, listening to music and horribly singing along, baking a cake, or playing video games. Most of these I do with my little brother or sister, growing up very close to them as I helped look after them from a young age and I wouldn’t change that. I do know I don’t want to be a professional journalist, I kind of hate writing if it’s mandatory and not something I choose to do on my own time or smaller topics, not to mention I do not think I am good at writing. So far I enjoy being able to talk to others for interviews thought. I think writing for the school is important as it keeps us all updated and focuses our attention to on reading something for a few minutes. The media itself and journalism write about many dispersed communities we are in, may be interested in, which is crucial as it can bring us together on facts, events, or push us away depending on our views. Speaking with actual wants I would like to do hair and makeup for others, be an aesthetician, or work at a salon. It’s what I always loved to do and for my friends to help them for special events. What I’m thinking of doing is going into radiology. It may not be what I want exactly but I know the money will be worth it. One last thing I would like to mention is, because I am mixed and grew up in Costa Rica until age 8, I’m pretty fluent in Spanish. So any conversations and small talk are welcomed!
