As you say a prayer before bed or at the start of your day, no one stops you. Because they can’t, or they shouldn’t.
For former High School football coach Joe Kennedy it was another story, one that would controversially depict the nature of some, after he was fired for praying in the center field after a game. Creating a safe place for everyone regardless of their religion should be the top priority for schools or workplaces.
Religious or not, everyone has heard the First Amendment clearly state that everyone in the United States has freedom of religion. If it’s causing no harm, why is it so difficult for people to practice religion in public without shame or consequence?
For a place like Bremerton High School – or Triton High School – there should be designated spots for people of any religion to practice in private. If schools are going to punish someone for doing something they have the right to do, they should at least have a resource to avoid having future incidents.
Thirty-one percent of the global population is Christian, 24 percent is Islamic, 15 percent Hindu, and 7 percent Buddhist, meaning that over 85 percent of the world’s population identifies with a major religion . Yet, the only place most people feel publicly comfortable expressing their religion is at a place of worship.
Instead of acting like the victim or feeling pressured by another person’s belief, people should focus on how to make it easily accessible to carry out a person’s rights without disputes or punishment.
Although I partially agree with people who say that religion should not be pushed or encouraged toward others who don’t have the same beliefs, there should be no issues showing religion in public.
