Triton offers an amazing program that allows seniors to leave school for the last quarter of the year and participate in an internship. Most students who elect to join the internship program the opportunity to go into their preferred field of work to learn more about what their future could look like. This week, Maddie and Rowan spoke with Ms Cassidy, a Triton alumni, and even some other members of the class of 2025 who will be participating this year.
Ms Cassidy, Triton’s very own College and Career Counselor, has been here for three years now and has implemented this internship for seniors eligible. “Seniors are encouraged to participate in the internship program to explore a possible career interest area, develop their professional skills, build their resume experience and network with professionals in their career field,” said Cassidy. “Some students have been offered full-time jobs at the completion of their internship, while others have been hired part-time, while they attend college.”
We talked to Genna Young, class of 2024 alumni, about her experience during her internship. “I think that it is very important for people to utlise this experiance, I know that it helped me alot getting my experiance in a salon beofre going to school,” said Young. Genna explained to us that her experience during the internship was very good, and she recommends taking advantage of the opportunity.
Now to hear what our classmates are doing! The internship has been the talk of the senior class for most of the year now, as seniors are experiencing the senioritis a little bit early this year and are eager to leave Triton in the past. Senior Nolan Merrill will be working for his dads company alongside and plans on going into a trade school after he graduates. “I think that every one that is not going into a collage or already knows what they want to do after high school should try to get an internship in the job they want to do,” said Merrill.
Finally, we talked to senior Amir Alami about his plans, and they were different than what we thought. Amir plans on doing an internship that doesnt exactly directly relate to his future career, but still thinks it will be helpful because it has to do with the military. “It will help me see the other side of the military before I am enlisted,” said Alami.
Learning about what our peers were doing for their internships, let alone their futures, was very eye opening. The end of the highschool road for the class of 2025 is coming fast, and we want everyone to make the most of it. We hope that to the seniors, this was informational for you and for the underclassmen, this article is encouraging you. Good luck to everyone doing an internship this year!
