When it comes to pizza, every high schooler understands the struggle of deciding what to order whether you are fueling up after practice or grabbing a slice with friends, taste, price, and delivery all matter. To help you out, we hit up four local spots: Stone Crust in Newburyport MA, Nick’s Place in Salisbury MA, Domino’s in Newbury MA, and, of course, Triton High School lunch, Gil’s Pizza. Here’s what went down when we sampled a cheese slice and a pepperoni slice from each place.
Taste: The Showdown
Stone Crust:
This upscale pizza place delivers slices that are thin, crispy, and packed with flavor. “Every time I get pizza I love getting stone crust.” Junior Abigail Richard said, “I think there pizza is really good.” The cheese slice had a rich, buttery taste, while the pepperoni added a spicy kick without overwhelming the base. A solid pick for pizza lovers.
Nick’s Place:
Nick’s went for a homey approach. The cheese slice was thick and gooey, while the pepperoni brought a smoky bold flavor. It felt like comfort food in the best way.
Domino’s:
Domino’s delivered its signature blend of garlicky crust and tangy tomato sauce. Many students have had their pizza and enjoy it. “Not bad I like their crust,” Junior Benjamin Cauxdou said. The cheese slice was predictably satisfying, while the pepperoni hit with a nice salty punch.
School Lunch:
You know what you’re getting here: nostalgic, cardboard crust with just enough cheese and sauce to remind you its pizza. Although some days are good days for pizza, “I like it. It’s fine.” Junior Ruby Fyrberg said. The pepperoni adds a chewy texture, but the flavor game is weak compared to the others.
Pricing: What’s the Damage?
Stone Crust: Fancy taste comes with a fancy price tag of around $4.50 per slice. Worth it for a treat but not exactly budget-friendly.
Nick’s Place: A bit more reasonable at around $3.25 a slice, and the fulfilling portions make it feel like a deal.
Domino’s: You’ll spend around $2.75 a slice if you order a whole pie, but the price varies depending on the deals. Decent bang for your buck.
School Lunch Pizza: For free! It’s a bargain You’re not paying for quality, but it’ll fill you up in a pinch.
Delivery: Speedy and Reliable
Stone Crust: Delivery was available to us but it’s not a far drive to pick it up. The pizza was hot and fresh, but the parking was tough to navigate.
Nicks Place:
Super quick– Around 25 minutes. No hiccups and the pizza was still warm and melted.
Dominos: Their tracker feature is a game changer, and the pizza arrived in 25 minutes. Bonus points for convenience.
School Lunch Pizza: let’s be real– this is not coming to your door. You’ll have to brave the cafeteria lunch line to get a slice.
Final Decision:
If taste is your top priority and you don’t mind splurging, Stone Crust is the way to go. For those who want a balance of flavor and affordability, Nick’s Place hits the spot. Dominos is your first runner for quick, reliable delivery, especially during late-night cravings. And if you’re broke and stuck in school, well, Gils Pizza will keep you going until the last bell rings.
So next time you’re debating on where to grab a slice, think about what matters most to you and what you look for in a pizza. Happy munching!
