Julie Macsata is warming up to this new scene on the NES.
She has always known she wanted to work with children.
“I used to babysit, I babysat really early and loved being with kids,” said Macsata.
From early on, Mrs Macsata always liked working with younger people. She started babysitting and from there she came to the realization that working with kids was where she wanted to land. One of the main reasons that Macsata decided she wanted to work with special education students was during her time as an intern when a little girl with a disability walked up to her and hugged her.
Today, Macsata has been teaching for 22 years and still going strong by starting her new adventure working within our community is Newbury Elementary.
Before NES, Macsata bounced around from Salem to Danvers, and then Peabody. However before becoming the kind-hearted teacher she is today she worked as a pharmacy technician. She enjoyed her time working in that field but wasn’t a huge fan of the atmosphere. She later attended Westfield State for college with a concentration in studying students with severe special needs. She then attended AIC (American International College) for her masters in early childhood education. Later on she would return and obtain her CAGS (certificate of advanced graduate studies) in special education administration.
