Just like so many things have changed over the past few years, the simple Christmas list has gone from circling favorite toys in a children’s magazine and mailing letters to Santa to creating hyperlinks on a Google Slideshow and sharing it with loved ones.
Diving deeper into more advanced technology, this trend has proven both expected and unexpected. Teenagers all over are making their Christmas slide shows to present. It has become a trend where parents actually film their teens showing their power points, and upload it. I searched it up on the app and found hundreds of videos like this, including millions of comments relating to this. I myself have actually made one, linking presents I would be grateful to receive, along with a picture next to it. This is an easy way to have parents easily purchase gifts for their children. I have mixed thoughts about these. It’s kind of a spoiler that you’re almost guaranteed to get atleast a few things on your list, if it’s reasonable.
“I love the idea, it’s a good way for my mom to fully get what I want. There will be no confusion of sizing, color, etc..” – Senior Reese Renda. Reese gives a good point on how this could help christmas morning when you open the sweatshirt youve been dying to get, and then realize it doesn’t fit. A senior Genna Young, states her opinions on wishlists. “I think it takes away the surprise on christmas morning if youre linking exact gifts.” Xmas lists also just include a bunch of presents we don’t need but want, it’s lazy, and a waiting game. It’s not like when you’re a kid and you circle a toy you like then forget about it 5 minutes later.
Virtual christmas lists are defi tily going to be more popular on the next coming years. From writing letters to Santa and sending them in the mail, to creating a google slides to present to family members, wishlists are a popular way to share what you want for christmas.
A TikTok, receiving over 15.2 million views in just days had blown up last year. A mother filmed her daughter presenting her PowerPoint to her and her dad. So many people on the app started sharing their experiences of their kids lists online. A 13-year-old boy put on his dad’s blazer to look more professional presenting. With the holidays coming up these videos are going to be extremely popular.
