Welcome back to Murph Monthly today we will be covering Homecoming by Kanye West. This was suggested by Arron Hopkinson.
This song was a part of his album Graduation produced alongside Warryn Campbell with a guest appearance from Chris Martin along with lead vocalist Coldplay. This song goes more in the hip-hop genre and has more parts of new wave and pop-oriented beats. The song comes from the inspiration of his hometown that he came from in Chicago, showing the relationship between him and the city. I really enjoyed reviewing this song because it was the song that put me on to Kanye. With this album and the style and the difference in a lot of the songs, it makes sense why this album and the songs in it are at the top of a lot of people’s charts. I love it not going so much into the fast or heavy rapping and instead keeping with a slower flow and letting people actually be able to hear what he is saying. Along with that all of the lyrics are impactful and really speak to what he thinks about where he came from.
I would say that this song is a 9/10. I really do love it and it is one of my favorite songs that Kanye has made, however, it is just not a song that I feel I could listen to over and over again. I just have to be in the right mindset and mood for it.
