Triton Boys Takes It
On January 31, Triton’s Winter Track and Field team took on North Reading in their final dual meet of the season. This meet was a deciding meet for the Triton’s boys final standings. With a win, the team would finish 3-1. With a loss, the team would finish 2-2. The boys knew they didn’t want to end their dual season on a loss, so they didn’t.
The final score of Triton vs. North Reading was 55-45 with Triton taking the win. Both teams showed extreme talent throughout the meet, each taking wins in different events consistently. North Reading is known for having fast sprinters so Triton strategically created their lineup based on what they were confident they could win and what they knew they couldn’t.
Senior Parker Burns contributed nine total points, five of which came from a big win the the 300m. Senior Shea McLaughlin put up 11.25 points with wins in the 55 hurdles, high jump, and the 4x400m relay alongside seniors Colin Webber, Bryan Nichols, and Griffin White. Nichols also took the 600 over North Reading, while White took first in the 1000m. In the mile, Duncan MacDonald and Zach Lyon took first and second over North Reading, while seniors Cole Jacobsen and Sam Mollineaux also took first and second in the 2 mile race.
Everyone played their part in the meet against North Reading, so when every point and performance mattered, the boys stepped up. Triton finished their duel season with a positive 3-1 record. Triton along with the rest of the Cape Ann League now prepares for CALS on Tuesday, February 7th.
