Ultimate Console Debate
PS5 vs. Xbox Series X
For over a year, there has been a debate if you should buy the Xbox Series X or the PS5.
The Triton Voice took a deeper dive into the debate and found some interesting facts about the systems. As well as interviewing local players.
The Xbox holds 1 TB of storage while the Playstation holds 825 GB. Both systems run at 120fps and are 8K in resolution. PS5 got a brand new look to their controller, making the same shape as the Xbox controller.
The PS5 disk version is $500 and the PS5 digital edition is $400. The Xbox Series X is $500 while the Xbox Series S is $300. 30 million PS5 units have sold while the Xbox has sold 20.26 million units.
The biggest problem is the shortage in consoles. Retailers have had queues where you would have to wait to have a chance to buy the system. People have made businesses out of buying consoles and reselling them for more money since the consoles are in such high demand.
My personal preference is that I cannot stand how the PS5 looks. Not only is the system big; it’s also a pain to switch from vertical to horizontal configuration. The Xbox Series X, on the other hand, is still pretty big, but manages its space much better. Rather than looking like an oversized router, the Xbox Series X is a sleek black box that looks like a mini PC and is way easier to move around.
Triton Seniors talked about their opinions on the systems.
“I like the Xbox better because it runs smoother and it’s less money.” said senior Max Ciaramitaro.
Senior Sam Richard agreed.
“I like the Xbox because I’ve been playing since I was young and the controller is better.” said senior Sam Richard.
Senior Ethan Tate had a different view.
“I’ve played both Xbox and Playstation and I’ve always liked the feel of the Playstation controllers better but Xbox does run smoother I’ll give it that.” said senior Ethan Tate
This has been the ultimate battle to which console is better. Both consoles are going to be successful. PS5 and Xbox Series X are always going to be the biggest debate and it really just depends on preference.
