First Meet of the Winter Season

On Saturday, December 10, Triton attended their first winter track and field meet at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, MA. The MSTCA Winter Festival Small School meet was more of a big multi-team practice than a competetive meet. There was no scores or medal given, however some impressive times and standings were put up by some Triton athletes.

Senior Erin Wallwork competed in the girls 1000m where she took second place with a time of 3:17.19. Sophmore Alexa Bonasera took 9th place with a time of 1:51.45 in the girls 600m. The girls 4x200m team, Ella Treital-poore, Angela Simmons, Colleen Johnson, and Sarah Ewell took 12th overall with a time of 2:03.42.

The boys relay teams all took places in the top five, with the 4×200 taking 4th with a time of 1:40.85, the 4×400 team also took 4th with a time of 3:51.58, and the 4×8 team took 5th place with a time of 9:14.92. In the field events, Senior Josh Rodriguez took 8th place in the shot put with a throw of 36-10.5. Senior Shea McLaughlin finished in 8th for the boys high jump with a height of 5 foot six inches.

Senior Sam Mollineaux showed out during his race of the mile, putting up a time of 4:55.55 and finishing 3rd overall. In the 1000m seniors Griffin White and Bryan Nichols took 6th and 9th place, while juniors Zach Lyon, and Duncan MacDonald took 11th and 12th place.

Everyone on the team is ready and looking forward to what hopefully will be a great season with impressive feats from both the boys and girls teams. Triton now prepares to face Newburyport on Tuesday December 13th at the New Balance Center in Boston MA.
